*Cade knows what time out is and how to get there! He sends himself to "mime out" quite often. So now I've added the timer for one minute and then explain what he did wrong and then ask for an apology. It's hilarious! CADE: " mime out, mimer, one minute.......not nice........ine sorry". He knows when he does things wrong, and he knows there's a consequence. I'm quite proud of the fact that he has learned all that at such a young age. Some may think it's harsh or silly, but he knows that his choices have consequences and some adults don't even understand the concept!
*Cade knows his COLORS really well, can count to 10 by himself (usually skips seven), can say/sing MOST his ABC's and loves to sing songs. He usually catches the last word or two of each phrase, it's really cute. He's also quite the dancer. We love Mondays, it's our cleaning day and we turn on some good music and dance in between rooms.
*I've been a pretty anal mom about having a "routine" for Cade. But I think it's paid off, because he knows it pretty well and will sometimes tell me what's coming next. Sometimes he even tells me, "nigh nigh Caders" before it's even naptime or bedtime. He is STILL a great sleeper. Takes one 2-hour nap everyday and usually sleeps 10-12 hours every night. He is also a good self soother. He will sit in his crib anywhere from 10-40 minutes talking or rearranging his blankets, then it gets quiet and you know he's asleep. He knows in the morning he comes and lays with mommy (and daddy sometimes) and watches "mick mouse". He knows after it's over we go downstairs, change diaper, get milk in sippy and have breakfast...aka "yummies". He's got it down!
*Cade is a TALKER! Man it seems like he came out talking! (totally related to mommy) Again, I'm not trying to be a proud mom but he did start to say words and associate them with correct meanings early on. He picks up on things/words really quick so we have to be pretty careful about what we say around him. He also puts 2-3 words together. "uh-oh, I drop it" "horsey show daddys truck" "daddy at work" "mommy go potty". I love it when he says "narnit" "ine sorry" "dade nargent" "hands in" "adios" "bye babe". I wish I knew exactly when he started really "talking" but like I said it seems like he's always talked. What a bad mom I am.
*Cade is full on running, climbing, hanging, galloping, falling........hmmmm what else? He loves to gallop like a horse and he does a real good job at it. He could go in circles forever and then get dizzy and fall down, and then do it all again. He thinks he can run pretty fast and tries so hard with his short little legs. He will run down the hall and say "run bast mommy's room", then turn around and go back to his room and do it again. He also has pretty good balance. He likes to try and put his own clothes and shoes on and will balance on one foot for a little bit while doing so. He also likes to help pick out his clothes for the day. I usually hold up a few options for him and he thinks it's pretty neat.
*He loves to be outside with all the animals, wind, dirt and whatever else we can find out there. He loves to throw things, especially sticks and balls for Jack. It grosses me out when he picks up Jacks dirty, slobbery ball, but it's not going to kill him so I just have to relax. He's actually got a good arm and throws overhand really well. He loves our goat! He will go over to Puddy and pet him, give him kisses, run with him, try to ride him, grab his horns, show him where his nose and eyes are and Puddy just sits there and takes it! It's actually really cute.
*Cade is REALLY good at entertaining himself! I'm so grateful for this quality of his, but I also feel guilty sometimes like I should be the one entertaining him. Its good for him, and for me because it allows me to get a few more things done around the house. One of my favorite things to do is sneak up on him and see what he's doing. He's already very creative and comes up with some pretty good stuff.
*Whenever Cade is playing with toys that come in multiples, especially blocks, trains, animals, cars........you get it..........he will line them up and they all have to be facing the same direction. He is very particular on how his toys look I guess. He's also stacking everything and then quickly destroying it. And he LOVES to do puzzles. Naturally, thanks to daddy :), he gets frustrated if the piece doesn't fit the first try, but he usually will try until he gets it.
*He loves to help....ALOT! He is really good at cleaning up, putting toys away, throwing away garbage (don't know why but he loves to take his dirty diapers out to the "big darbage"). He likes it when I ask him to go get something specific, like a diaper in his room or his jammies in his drawer, he listens really good (most the time) and usually comes back with what I asked for. He is really into figuring things out. This is also a trait from early on. He will study something and usually get frustrated until he figures it out. Then he is so proud of himself when he does. He is really into feeding himself with a spoon and fork. In fact he will push my hand away if I try to help and say "caders turn". It gets pretty messy, especially the drinking from a cup thing!, but he loves it so oh well!
*Cade LOVES books! Always has. But lately I will catch him in his room over in the corner, or closet, or laundry basket with a few books and he's reading them out loud. It's cute because he is imitating me and the way I read them to him. I know I'm his mom, but he is so smart and I'm glad he's paying attention to his mommy!
Legs all crossed! Classic Caders!
Now if this doesn't show you Cade's personality, well, I don't know! He is quite the character!
*Cade still loves to give kisses! I love it! Lately he will turn my head and kiss my cheek and then say "other one" and turn it and kiss the other cheek. He thinks he's so funny, mommy thinks he's so dang adorable! I love him so much and am so grateful to my husband for working so hard so I can stay home and be a mom! It's the BEST!
*He recognizes familiar things. We will be driving to Sargents and as soon as we cross the tracks he says "papa's house". Same with my parents, we turn this one corner and he knows exactly where we are. He has memorized the road to my work. We pass a place that has lots of "big trucks" and after the trucks are the trains "choo choos" and then the "tractors" and then all the lights. He's really good with all our family too! Loves to name everyone's name when he sees pictures or when we are all together. Then later that day he will repeat them all, like he's reviewing the day. I'll say it again....I think he's pretty smart.
